Bournemouth University was established in the early twentieth century and at that time it was called the Bournemouth Municipal College. The modern history of the University began in 1976 when the Dorset Institute of Higher Education was opened. In 1990, the Dorset Institute was transformed into Bournemouth Polytechnic and in 1992 it became the University of Bournemouth.

Location and Transportation
The University is located in the center of the largest non-industrial region of Europe – between the New Forest and the Jurassic Coast. Two campuses in the cities of Poole and Bournemouth are served first-class bus service. Prior to London can be reached in two hours by train.
